The Chance Foundation was registered in 1996 with the purpose of supporting the activities of the Youth Information and Advisory Office Ifiteka, operating alongside the Gheorgheni City Hall. The foundation continues to seek opportunities to encourage youth initiatives, provide education, and contribute to strengthening the autonomy of civil and youth organizations. From its very beginning, the Chance Foundation has responded to the needs of local civil and youth organizations, as well as those in the Giurgeu Basin, by offering quality services, information, databases, and programs.
Some of our programs include:
- “We Are Young Too” (1997–2000) – occupational therapy for young people with mental disabilities (ages 16–34).
- “Green Line” (1997–1998) – psychological hotline for anonymous calls.
- “Kobak Toy Library” (1997–2000) – lending games and toys for children and youth.
- “Future Councilors” (1997–1999) – training program on the duties of local councilors and relations with civil organizations.
- “Healthy Lifestyle” (1999–2000) – courses on nutrition, smoking, alcohol and drug use, HIV/AIDS, and human sexology.
- “Civil Organizations in the Spotlight” (2000–2001) – presenting local civil organizations through local TV and the foundation’s publication “Chance.”
